Malcolm Olson, respected horticulturist, experimental grower, and nut tree specialist has expressed a willingness once more to work with two “Apprentices” grafting nut trees at Malcolm’s plant propagation facilities in Erie, Pa. and Findley Lake, NY, this spring. The two individuals NYNGA sponsored in a similar program last year, and Malcolm, all agree it was a worthwhile learning experience.
This year, the “Apprenticeship” will take place on April 24, 25, and 26, with arrival at nearby lodging at Findley Lake on the evening of the 23rd. If the interns and Malcolm deem it valuable to extend the experience into Saturday, April 27, reimbursement will be made for that time, also.
NYNGA will sponsor the “Apprentices.” They will be reimbursed for gas money, room, and board. A basic grafting kit will be supplied and NYNGA will reimburse Malcolm for necessary plant material expenses.
Interested parties should read the eligibility rules on our application form, complete the form and return it by March 30.“Apprenticeships” will be awarded by the NYNGA Executive Committee shortly after the closing application date.
